Kevin Pinkerton

North West Managing Director and licensed insolvency practitioner

Kevin Pinkerton leads BusinessRescueExpert’s North West office and co-leads TRE’s turnaround and restructuring work with Eamonn Wall. He has a background in restructuring and insolvency law and was previously national head of restructuring and insolvency at Freeths.

Career and professional credentials

Kevin qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and spent 23 years specialising in restructuring and insolvency law before launching BusinessRescueExpert’s North West operation in November 2025. He trained at George Davies Solicitors in Manchester, then worked at Turner Parkinson before joining Freeths in 2007.

At Freeths, Kevin became a partner in 2010 and Deputy Managing Partner of the Manchester office in 2017. He later served as National Head of Restructuring and Insolvency, leading a team across seven offices. His legal practice included advising insolvency practitioners, directors and creditors on restructurings, administrations and liquidations.

Kevin holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Manchester and completed the Legal Practice Course at Manchester Metropolitan University. His legal training and insolvency qualification underpin his work on both restructuring advice and formal appointments.

Kevin is licensed as an insolvency practitioner by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). His insolvency practitioner number is 9622. You can check a practitioner’s details through the government’s insolvency practitioner service and their authorising body.

Restructuring and formal insolvency

Kevin’s work spans advice for businesses under financial pressure and formal insolvency appointments. TRE helps directors examine business viability, cashflow and restructuring options. BusinessRescueExpert provides guidance on procedures including administration, company voluntary arrangements and liquidation.

The role of an adviser differs from the statutory responsibilities of an appointed office holder. The engagement and any appointment documentation explain the role being undertaken in each matter.
